Files of note:

Suspicious note

On August 8th, staff at Gorge Harbour Marina in Whaletown requested assistance with a mysterious note in a bottle. The note advised that the individual was being held captive, needed help, and to use a provided website link to get their live location. After a fair bit of digging, and with the assistance of the Gorge Harbour Staff, it was determined that "live location" was actually a prank and went to meme on a prank website. As the note didn't have any personal information on it, officers were unable to follow up with the prankster.

Break and enter

On August 9th, Quadra RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a cabin on the North end of the Island. The homeowner advised that sometime in the last few weeks, someone broke into the locked storage area under the cabin. The door was smashed in and bent and several tools and other miscellaneous items were stolen. The masonry around a vent in the foundation wall was smashed as well. The damage to the shed is estimated at approximately $5000 - $8000, and the amount stolen estimated around $2000. The matter is still under investigation.

Stolen boat motor

On August 11th, Quadra RCMP received  report of a theft of a newer Yamaha long leg boat motor. The boat was tucked away in the reeds just North of the boat launch on Village Bay Lake. The suspect cut a cable lock that secured the boat and cut the battery cable and gas line to remove the motor. The theft occurred sometime between the morning of August 9th and the afternoon of August 10th. The matter is still under investigation.

Found key

On August 10th, an anonymous person left a black plastic key holder at the front door of the Quadra RCMP. The Key holder had three keys in it. If you believe this is yours, contact the Quadra RCMP at 250-285-3631 with a description of it and the keys to get it back.

Lost dog

On August 12th, Quadra RCMP received a report of a stolen dog in the South end of the Island. The complainant advised her dog had wandered off (which he never did) and they were concerned he was stolen. Some time later, the complainant returned and said that a passing cyclist assisted her in locating her dog. Apparently, the dog became distracted by some deer and accidently got separated from his owner. Thankfully, the two were reunited soon after and all was well.
