Theft in progress?

In the evening of June 12th, a complainant reported that wood was being taken at the Quathiaski Cove Ferry terminal. The complainant provided a description of the alleged offender allowing officers to quickly locate them. The individual involved was extremely cooperative and apologetic and mistakenly believed that the wood was garbage and returned the wood right away. Officers believed the incident was purely a misunderstanding and that the wood would easily be mistaken for garbage due to its location next to the dumpster and condition. 

Check well being

On June 14th Quadra RCMP received a report of a check well being on the Haskin Farm Trail. The complainant located a man sleeping, and when tried to wake him, he was unable to fully do so. Officers attended and located the man who was not fully awake and coherent and agreed to move on. Officers were called again to the same area the next day for the same man, however, he left before members attended.

Speeders

On June 14th, Quadra RCMP received a report of ongoing issues of speeders on Heriot Bay Road going up from the detachment. The complainant advised the speeding seemed to be worse during the work rush hour. Officers have increased patrols.

Vehicle accident

On June 16th, Quadra RCMP members were dispatched an a motor vehicle accident on Heriot Bay Road near Rebecca Spit. Fire was on scene and advised that the vehicle had flipped and the driver's arm was pinned under the vehicle. The passenger and driver were both taken to hospital, however, were released soon after with minor injuries. Impairment is believed to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing.

Missing person located

On June 20th, a concerned complainant reported her roommate as missing. The complainant advised her roommate had left the previous evening and still hadn't returned and wasn't answering texts and or calls. Officers were finally able to get ahold of the missing individual who confirmed she was in Comox and agreed to meet with local officers to confirm her well being in person. The complainant was updated and thankful her friend had been located.

Abandoned 911 calls

In the evening of June 23rd officers received an abandoned 911 from a residence on South Island. All dispatchers could hear was distorted noise. Officers attended and spoke with the owner of the phone who confirmed the call was made in error. 

A few hours later just after midnight, officers received another 911 call, this time from Cortes Island. The owner of the phone did the right thing and answered when dispatch called them back. Further investigation confirmed this call was also a result of an accidental dial.
