On Friday, June 9, at approximately 9:15 pm, West Kelowna RCMP were contacted regarding an incident of a vehicle leaving the road surface of West Side Road near West Kelowna and likely rolling in to Okanagan Lake down an embankment. Search and Rescue assisted West Kelowna RCMP in the search of the scene but the search was called off due to poor visibility in the dark of the night. The search resumed early Saturday morning to conduct a full search of the shore and the surrounding water. The vehicle was found deep in the water and it was confirmed that a body was inside. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team were contacted to access the vehicle and should arrive on Sunday. Coroner was contacted and advised of the event. No further information will be available until Monday.
