At approximately 06:30 am on February 16, 2023, the Lake Cowichan RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle accident on the Cowichan Valley Highway involving a logging truck and pickup truck.

Upon attendance frontline RCMP officers located a logging truck perpendicular to the roadway, and a pickup truck which had collided into the rear of the logging truck. The driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for further observation.

We want to thank the drivers who were affected by this collision for their patience during the vehicle removing and RCMP investigation says Lake Cowichan RCMP Constable David Prak If anyone was in the area at the time of this collision and may has dashcam footage, please contact the Lake Cowichan RCMP.

Traffic was diverted along Cowichan Lake Road for approximately 3 hours, until both vehicles could be safely removed.
