File # 2022-12-20 Keian's Toy Drive/Pack the PC totals

Surrey RCMP is thanking the community for its outpouring of support as two annual charitable endeavours come to a successful conclusion.

From November 14 to December 15, over 2500 toys and $9000 in cash and gift cards was donated towards Keian’s Holiday Wish Toy Drive, which is held every year in memory of six year-old Keian Blundell. People gave generously to bring cheer to sick children and their families, with donations being collected at Surrey RCMP’s main detachment and district offices, as well as at local Superstore locations.

On December 16, officers with the Surrey RCMP Community Response Unit and Youth Unit delivered donations of new toys to children at BC Children’s Hospital, with another delivery planned for Surrey Memorial Hospital.

The giving spirit of our local community was also on display for Surrey RCMP’s Pack the Police Car event. This yearly campaign assists the Surrey Food Bank, Cloverdale Christmas Hamper Program, and Sources BC with donations of food, gift cards, and cash. On December 9th, Surrey residents at three Save-on-Foods locations filled ten boxes and two shopping carts with food, and donated more than $2200 in cash and gift cards to help others in need this holiday season and throughout the year.

The community in Surrey has a big heart, and it is so inspiring to see people come together to give what they can and make a positive difference in the lives of others, says Inspector Harm Dosange, Community Support & Safety Officer. Being able to help give back in the community we serve is incredibly important to our Surrey RCMP members and staff, and it’s something we look forward to each holiday season.
