Break and Enter

On May 11th Sunshine Coast RCMP received a report that 17 iPad's, some chargers and microphones had been stolen from a business in Sechelt.  The rear door appears to have been pried open sometime overnight.  Police are continuing to investigate. Impaired Driving

On May 5th at 11:45 pm the RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver swerving and driving erratically.  The vehicle was located by police with the engine running in a parking lot in Port Mellon.  The driver was asleep in the drivers seat, clutching a can of beer.   The driver provided two breath samples that  both showed a FAIL result and subsequently he was served a 90 day license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On May 6 at 11:30 pm while conducting patrols in Gibsons, a police officer noticed a vehicle about to exit a parking lot, before the driver appeared to see the marked police car.  The vehicle then parked in a parking spot but no one exited the vehicle. Upon approach, police noted two occupants in the vehicle and in speaking with the driver, detected a strong odour of liquor.  Driver provided two breath samples that both showed a FAIL result.  The driver who was a Class 7 New Driver, was issued a 90 day driving suspension and the vehicle which was not theirs, was impounded for 30 days.

Mischief to Mailbox

Sometime in the evening of May 5th the post office box was pried open at Garden Bay Road and Casano Road in Garden Bay.  Two parcel boxes had been pried open, unknown if anything was stolen from them.  If anyone observed this incident or has any information please contact the RCMP at 604-885-2266

Fisheries Act Violation

On May 6th police were advised that two people were illegally harvesting clams on the beach in Tuwanek.  Witnesses' provided the license plates to two vehicle's associated.  One of the vehicles was stopped and searched as it left the area but no shellfish were located.  Driver was warned about trespassing and the Fisheries Act violation.

Shoplifting

On May 8th the RCMP received a report of a theft of clothing from a clothing store in Gibsons BC.  Police reviewed video surveillance that showed the suspect entering a vehicle parked outside.  The police officers attended the suspects address and found them home, wearing the stolen item.  It was determined that a criminal charge would not be recommended and instead the incident would be dealt with privately.
