File # 2023-7829

A man was safely taken into custody, following a large police presence in the area of Lac Du Bois Road this afternoon.

On March 8, 2023, around 12 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to a weapons report in the 2300-block of Lac Du Bois Road.

As part of the investigation, officers located a man who was known to police; he was uncooperative when told he was under arrest for firearms related offences. At the time, it was unknown if any other weapons were in his possession.

In the interest of public and police safety, a number of officers attended and the public was requested to please avoid the area, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. With the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, Southeast District Emergency Response Team, frontline officers, and other support units, the man was located and taken into custody without further incident.

It is still early in the investigation. Anyone who witnessed or has information that may be associated to this occurrence is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-7829.
