Man arrested for dangerous driving

Coquitlam RCMP are seeking witnesses and video after arresting a man for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle on Monday, March 11, 2024.

Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a black Tesla tailgating vehicles while weaving in and out of traffic at 9:30 a.m. on March 11, 2024. Police received additional reports that the vehicle was travelling westbound along the Mary Hill Bypass near Pitt River Road in Port Coquitlam.

The black Tesla continued westbound where it merged onto Highway 1 and was stopped by Coquitlam RCMP near the Brunette Avenue off-ramp. The driver, a 21-year-old man, was arrested for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

We would like to thank the public for reporting this incident to police, the information provided allowed us to quickly locate and stop the vehicle before a serious collision could occur, said Media Relations Officer, Corporal Alexa Hodgins. We are asking anyone who witnessed this incident or if you may have dash-cam or cellphone video between 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 along Mary Hill Bypass between Pitt River Road and Highway 1, or on Highway 1 between the Mary Hill Bypass interchange and the Gaglardi Way off-ramp, to please contact Coquitlam RCMP.
