
Police seeking suspect for discharging a firearm

The West Shore RCMP is currently investigating a report of a suspect who discharged a firearm near the entrance of Jordie Lunn Bike Park located at 2990 Irwin Rd in Langford.
On February 20 at approximately 12:25 a.m., the West Shore RCMP received multiple 911 calls from residents in the area of Irwin Rd who reported hearing 2-3 loud bangs in the vicinity. One witness reported interacting with a lone male suspect who brandished a firearm.
West Shore RCMP officers immediately attended the area and secured several blocks as the suspect was last seen headed east bound on Irwin Rd and crossing in front of the entrance to the bike park. The Police Dog Section was deployed and located casings at a construction site near this location. The suspect was not located.
The West Shore RCMP Serious Crime Unit is investigating this incident and officers have canvassed the area searching for both witnesses and video surveillance. Police are looking for the suspect that has been described as:
- Caucasian male between the age of 40-50 years old
- Approximately 6’1 tall
- Heavy build approximately 250-300 lbs
- Wearing a white shirt and light-colored pants and baseball cap
- Light colored shoes

Suspect described as:

If you can identify this male please call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 and do not approach the suspect yourself. Police are also requesting anyone in the area who may have home video surveillance or dash camera footage to please review it for the period between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on February 20 and call police if you think you captured the suspect on camera.
West Shore RCMP has not received any other reports of firearms being discharged in this manner. We wish to advise the public of this crime and ask that you report any suspicious activity right away by calling police. The motive and specific actions of the suspect in this matter remain unknown and under investigation. Investigators are working hard to identify this suspect and are requesting the public’s assistance in this matter,
