On May 6, 2023, families throughout the Creston area attended the Bike Rodeo at the Creston and District Community Complex. Over 180 people attended the Rodeo that was held inside the curling rink due to rain. Children were taught bicycle safety by Creston RCMP’s Cst. Kyle Konowalchuk.

I was able to meet many happy, smiling children today. The event was an excellent community event with food, a fun indoor riding area, and the children were able to decorate their bikes. I loved getting to know families and spending time with the kids. Giving back to the community is why I became a Mountie, said Cst. Konowalchuk.

RDCK Recreation Supervisor, Lisa Dear, stated, It was amazing having so many people and organizations come and attend this great community event. It was awesome to partner with Creston Valley Early Years and have police, firefighters, and Lions Club, come and spend time with all the children. We had so much great community support for this event and it allowed so many children to be active on their bikes on a wet day. The food, door prizes and being together with so many great people was a highlight of my week.

Community engagement forms the foundation of Policing in our communities. Our involvement in events, especially those where we can work closely with Youth, are very important to us as your local Detachment. I am proud our Officers and the work they do in the Creston Valley, and specifically of Cst. Konowalchuk for his efforts and attendance to this event. said Detachment Commander, S/Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk.

The Creston RCMP wishes all to stay safe on their bikes this summer.
